Iain Mackinnon

Iain founded MCF in 1997, having previously run the corporate finance division of Harrison Black, where he qualified as a certified accountant in 1985. 

 
Iain has extensive experience of mergers & acquisitions, disposals, MBOs, and public market work, including Takeover Code transactions. Iain has over 20 years’ experience in advising clients on a broad range of business development and financing issues, and has built up a considerable reputation for innovative but workable solutions to the growth, development and financing challenges facing a broad spectrum of clients both in the UK and overseas. 
 
Iain also serves as a non-executive director to a number of companies in both the public and private arenas.

Caroline Wood

 
Caroline has a First Class Honours degree in Modern Languages from the University of Bradford, and has also carried out post-graduate studies in History at Goldsmiths College, London. Following University, Caroline worked as an Analyst with management consultancy firm Jupiter Research (formerly Jupiter Communications) both in London and New York, before joining Mackinnon Corporate Finance in 2002. 
 
Caroline became a Partner at MCF in October 2007, and has a wide variety of experience in advising clients on acquisitions, disposals, and providing advice to Plus quoted clients, including experience on Takeover Code transactions. Caroline is a fluent Spanish and French speaker.

Phil Bowd

After joining Whittingham Riddell as a graduate from Liverpool University, Phil spent 10 years advising corporate clients, concentrating on the larger company/group audits and charities. During his time, Phil performed due diligence exercises for both clients and banks and assisted with business sales. 

 
This experience motivated his move to setting up the Corporate Finance department within Whittingham Riddell and establishing the link with Mackinnon Corporate Finance LLP enabling the firm to channel this type of work through one department, maximising the efficiency & expertise in this area.

Andy Malpass

Andy Malpass is a principal at Whittingham Riddell and joined in January 2003 from PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he spent 13 years gaining extensive experience in audit and corporate transaction support work both in the UK and overseas. In servicing his client portfolio of multi-national businesses, Andy provided financial due diligence in supporting numerous acquisitions and disposals, working closely with his clients and their advisory teams. His experience incorporated a variety of business sectors and deal sizes ranging from £10m to in excess of £200m.

 
Andy has continued to advise on corporate transactions, both acquisitions and disposals, focussing on owner managed businesses operating in a variety of sectors. His assignments include business planning and refinancing/funding support.

Duncan Montgomery

Duncan is a tax principal at Whittingham Riddell LLP and joined in January 2005, from Deloitte, and specialises in tax efficient corporate structures and business deals.  The type of mergers and acquisition work undertaken in the tax consultancy team includes tax minimised disposals of companies, restructuring to allow existing owners to receive cash value from refinancing at a minimal tax rate, due diligence work on acquisitions, and negotiation of warranties and indemnities.

Tim Jones

Tim is a principal at Whittingham Riddell and joined from Ernst & Young in 1989, becoming a principal in 1997. He immediately became involved in corporate finance work assisting a client in the disposal of their business for £10m with various structural, commercial, tax and other related issues arising.

 
Over the years Tim has been involved in all manner of Corporate Finance transactions, from acquisition and rebanking due diligence to restructuring, MBO’s and business sales.
